“Seafarer Exploration is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Michael Torres to the advisory board. Dr. Torres has extensive knowledge and experience in avionics system development and aerospace engineering, was an adjunct professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and is a decorated and wounded war veteran receiving a Purple Heart with Oak Cluster and the Bronze Star with Valor among other citations and awards.

Dr. Torres will help Seafarer develop advanced technologies to find gold, silver and other elements buried at sea and under the sand. Completion of this technology will create a paradigm shift in the industry and will evolve into additional applications, uses and revenue streams for Seafarer. Understand that Seafarer’s core business remains archaeologically-sensitive exploration, recovery, and conservation of historic shipwrecks. The growth of Seafarer into these additional sectors supports our core focus by generating revenues which are then used to fund our operations of exploration and recovery—this is a win-win for all parties involved but especially shareholders.

To further demonstrate the magnitude of Seafarer’s vision, we have created another wholly owned subsidiary named Advanced Autonomous Radar Interrogation Technology, LLC (AARIT). Dr. Torres is the chief technical officer of AARIT and is pursuing and developing additional technologies and projects, potentially for government agencies, aerospace companies, and defense contractors.

Dr. Torres was raised outside of Charleston, S.C. where, in 2003, he earned a BS of Electrical Engineering from The Citadel, The Military School of South Carolina. Upon graduation, Dr. Torres was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant and served two combat tours of duty in Afghanistan with the 3rd Brigade 505th of the 82nd Airborne Division. While in the U.S. Army, Dr. Torres earned the following degree, qualifications, awards and citations (partial list):

After being wounded during both deployments, Dr. Torres medically retired from the U.S. Army in 2008 with the rank of Captain. Dr. Torres continued with his post-doctorate work in Electronic Warfare Systems Threat Detection and Counter Measures at Syracuse University (publishable work deemed classified). While at Syracuse University, Dr. Torres worked closely with the U.S. Government and the defense industry to develop advanced GSM and CDMA signal jamming and targeting technology (publishable work deemed classified) to be deployed to active “combat zones” around the world. 

Dr. Torres went on to become an Adjunct Professor of Aerospace Engineering at MIT with engineering laboratories at Lincoln Laboratory and Charles Stark Draper Laboratory. While at MIT, Dr. Torres worked with both the defense industry and the commercial space industry to develop advanced navigation, weapon, and communication systems.

Dr. Torres’ technology will benefit Seafarer directly in our search for shipwrecks and their cargo but also by opening up new opportunities for possible revenue growth via leading-edge developments.”

Seafarer: What is your background?

Mike Torres: My background is rather diverse but one area is physics and aerospace engineering with focuses on applied particle physics and orbital dynamics. I also have additional experience focused on rapid prototyping, specifying in remote sensing theory and deep space satellite communication.


What are your goals and ambitions with Seafarer?

With my acquired leadership experience and technical expertise, I plan to develop and utilize cutting-edge technology to significantly advance Seafarer and make the company a leader both in marine archaeology and the technology sphere. Additionally, the technology I plan to develop for Seafarer will remarkably enhance their efficiency and drastically shorten the industry standard time commitment for the exploration, identification, and recovery of gold, silver and other precious metals and stones buried across the ocean floor. I also aspire to bring Seafarer to the forefront of remote sensing technology and applied particle physics for the defense and marine fields. This focus will further industry standards along with Seafarer’s standings in underwater exploration, sub-sea profiling, and detection, as well as in deep-sea mining and salvage by bringing lost historical artifacts back to the surface through the use of the technology we design.


Where do you see Seafarer in 5 years?

I see Seafarer as a leader in the defense and marine fields. The initiatives I’ll be spearheading will set precedence for innovative technology—eventually becoming the new standard in applied particle physics and remote sensing. This will ensure Seafarer as the front-runner dominating their industry sector.
